Caroline's talk with be about the pre-NHS Health Service in Bolton.
It will explore documents from Bolton Archives including, among other things, local recipes for homemade cough mixtures and family prescriptions, information about the Union Workhouse at Townleys Farm (1861), Bolton Royal Infirmary (1883), up to the launch on the National Health Service in 1948.
